Get QuoteTo be covered, you need to have received all doses of the COVID vaccine that you’ve been offered, including any booster jabs.
You can also be covered if you can’t have the vaccine due to a medical exemption.
If you have refused any doses of the COVID vaccine or any booster jab, then you won’t be covered for COVID related claims.
It's a requirement of our travel insurance to take a GHIC (Global Health Insurance Card) or EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) with you when travelling to Italy. But remember a GHIC or EHIC is a compliment to travel insurance, not a substitute for it.
The GHIC or EHIC entitles you to free or reduced cost health care in the state health providers in Italy.
But remember, neither a GHIC or EHIC will cover you for non-medical related mishaps on your trip, and won't cover you if you need to be flown home. Only travel insurance can provide you with that peace of mind.
If you use your GHIC or EHIC when abroad, we will waive your travel insurance excess if you need to make a medical claim.

Please note, we can’t reduce your cover in return for a partial refund. So, check you’re happy you’ve got the right level of cover when you take out your policy.
If you’re planning a winter sports holiday while you’re in Italy, it’s important that you’re covered with Winter Sports Travel Insurance.
Winter sports cover can be added to your Single Trip Travel Insurance Comprehensive policy for an additional premium. Or, if you prefer an annual policy, winter sports cover is automatically included for 21 consecutive days when you choose a Comprehensive policy.
